Description

Chess by post is the only cross-platform chess game that keeps track of your skill level and always matches you against players of similar ability to your own. And since it is available for iPhone, Android, Windows Phones, and Windows 8 PCs, you can play your friends no matter what type of phone or device they have.

Play correspondence chess with real people online! Challenge your friends to friendly games or play ranked matches against random opponents of similar skill levels. Play as many simultaneous games as you want!

Improve your ranking by playing ranked games against comparable opponents. Skill ranking updates using the classic Elo rating system to adjust your rank when you win or lose. A leaderboard view shows you how you compare to the top players.

Chess By Post is perfect for players of all skill levels because your matched opponent's skill level will be adapted based on your own skill level.

Pin the app to your home screen and push notifications will let you know when you have moves waiting!

Use the move planner to try out strategies before submitting your move.

Customize the board color to be wood, green, blue, red or gray.

Chat with your opponents using the in-game message board.

Tap on any opponent's name to see your all-time head-to-head stats.

Create a local hand-off game and play your friend by passing the phone back and forth.

It's great to play correspondence chess by phone! You can learn a great deal about strategy and openings by playing hard on this app. Find out why a move you like is good - or bad - by playing out lines. Consult opening and endgame manuals within the four-day time limit. Four days per move is fantastic: It's not postal correspondence chess, but this isn't ICC or Chess.com, either. The only problem I've encountered is lose-quitters, who play one move every three amd a half days in a dead-lost position; but I can live with that. This is a great app as-is, there are some very strong players here, and I hope to see YOU here!

Chess by Post is a cut above any other chess app I've owned. Game play is neat and tidy, the competition level is appropriate, due to ranking based opponent selection. The winner here though is the "Plan Moves" option, which allows you to "play" both sides freely as the board lies. This proves to be very effective, especially nearing the end-game scenarios or deciding whether or not sacrificing your bishop will be worth it. Best chess app available. No bugs, no crashing, no problems.

I like the matchmaking and the ability to play multiple games at once. My only complaint is the only time limit is five days per move. It is hard to actually finish a game.

Very simple, stripped-down design. Has all the features you'd want.
