Vocabulary Crosswords

I have really been hoping to for a crossword puzzle app that rivals the New York Times app that doesn't require a subscription to play, but this didn't even come close. These puzzles are too simplistic. One of the things I really like about the NYT's puzzles is the crossover of other words, this barely has any intersections. Also, if I can finish a crossword in a minute with no effort, what's the point in doing it in the first place. And lastly, the controls are not optimized for a PC (arrow keys can't navigate, you have to use the mouse). While the app is better than nothing, it's just too disappointing for true crossword fans who want a challenge. This might be good for your kids, but for an adult it's back to the drawing board...

Example of inaccurate Clue: (noun) lack of - Answer: want (which is never a noun, it is a verb, a transitive verb or an intransitive VERB) Simplistic because it's all B & W which does not seem to be for effect but by lack of style. The words are spaced far apart like they are incapable of doing a real crossword, and the typing of the clues is simply poorly done, words squished together, some clues (try) to tell you what part of speech it is and then some don't. Oh, and there are no instructions. Yes, most people know how to do crosswords, but they might not know how to make a digital one work. They advertise it as easier because they use common words, but the lack of crossing words makes it more difficult because in many instances all you get for a hint is one or two crossing letters.

Never showed much interest in crosswords until I noticed this. Nice, intriguing and thought provoking crossword puzzles. Must download app for all word lovers!

After I enter the answer to EACH clue, I'm taken to a full screen ad that I have to close before moving onto the next clue.

Really cool app. Best crossword app on windows phone.
